What is something i can put out or set up in my backyard to attract small animals like birds, chimpunks, squirrels, etc.? I dont own any special seeds and im notnwilling to go out and buy some, whats something i can so though?

Well, with out spending a little, I’m not quite sure. I have alot of birds coming to my garden along with squirrels. I how ever, buy plenty of suet cakes, and have a bird bath as well.

Imo, bigger is always better, as long as the bar spacing is appropriate for species. The smaller the bird, the smaller the space between the bars. Parakeets, no more than 5/8″ and tiels, no more than 3/4″

I do have one recommendation. Get a heavy-duty. large, square or rectangular cage. The multi-level artsy cages and economy models are not the best construction. Plastic parts crack, chip, can be chewed, and hold bacteria. Theyre also b*tch to clean.

Small,plastic bottom cages should be used with caution. They can often be easily damaged, dropped, or knocked over.

I hung a new bird feeder up in a tree where the small birds like to gather close by to eat around the shrubs.
But it has been two days and they still have not noticed the feeder with all that seed in it.
Anything I can do to attract the birds toward the feeder?

you really can’t do anything about it. the bird feeder usually attracts birds on its own, that’s the whole point.

I’m looking for something to use instead of buying an extended pet gate for my ktichen for a few days while I finish up my summer job. The puppy is 8 weeks old and I need to keep her somewhere safe (and with tile!) while I’m gone for a few hours finishing up my job. I have a baby/pet gate for one side of the kitchen, but the other is 70″ wide and a gate for that is a bit pricey for using it only a few days a week.

Does anyone have some alternative ideas to contain the puppy in the kitchen?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

LOL…Stacy, you really think people can’t own dogs and have a job? Give me a break, this is the second puppy I’ve raised this year and I work. Keep your lectures for someone who has no experience.

You really should be crate training an eight week old puppy.

EDIT: You should not have gotten a puppy if it is going to be alone for six hours regardless. Please research crate training. It is the best thing you can do for a puppy. Leaving her loose in a room is going to be a huge determent to house breaking.

i have a miniature schnauzer who’s a little over a year old. He barks constantly at people outside the window or if anyone has to come into my apartment. We’ve tried everything to get him to stop. we started out by just using a spray bottle and spraying him when he barked but that didn’t work. So then we went to a behavior modification class and went through training with him. He remembers all the tricks they taught him (sit, lay down roll over tell us when you need out, shake etc) but he still barks at people. I don’t know what to do, my apartment manager told me I needed to get him to stop barking. So my question is what type of bark collar should i get him. I hate the idea of getting him one but I feel like its my only option. So what type? or what else should i try?

hey, thats what you get for getting a small dog… small dogs never stop barking. big dogs do… big dogs rule :)

my oppinion, just live with it. you got the thing, dont punish it for its instincts. who knows? someday a murderur may be trying to get in and your dog barking will scare him/her away or at least warn you :) … wait… murderer… :l ……. O.O

Question by You Annoy me.: What type of Bark Collar should I get for a 30 pound, year old dog?
And, I would also like to know if the electric based collars become dangerous when wet.
He gets walked twice a day for about 20-25 minutes, we suspect he’s a chow mix, and he barks at anything walking by for minutes on end. He always has a large area to run around and play in. And sometimes he fights with our other dog when he’s barking.

If I lived in a house surrounded by 3 miles of trees, I wouldn’t give a damn if the dog barked for three days straight.

In reality, we live in a suburban area with neighbors 3 feet behind us, and have started shooting bb’s at our dog for barking.

I never recommend bark collars because dogs usually bark for a reason. Can you describe the problem a little and perhaps I can help with fixing the problem instead of using such a device.
